Offline (previously Bustle).

For my final year of university, I have been working on a social media platform that is designed to encourage people to actually be social with my co-founders Fraser & Hannah.

Social media companies like Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok have been designed to have addictive features to encourage increased use of their platforms so they can generate increased revenue from adverts. Our group recognised how unhealthy and problematic this business model was so we employed exploratory user research techniques to get to know our target market and use design & systems thinking to come up with a solution.

The result was a social media platform that was designed to make it easy and rewarding for you to be social with existing friends while making new ones based on availability and interests. The app compared prices for events allowing you to find the most inexpensive ones, and easily find mutual availability with people by integrating with your calendar. Better yet, we came up with the idea of shared ownership of data with our users, so they earn rewards for using the platform and being social by engaging in the experience economy.
